My Favourite Spring Family Activities in Burlington, Ontario
Signs of Spring are finally peaking out, and as a mom of two little ones ages 4 and 6, I am so excited to finally begin enjoying our favourite Spring family activities in Burlington. I love being in nature and spending endless time outdoors with my family. Over the past few years, I began keeping a list on my phone of my favourite Spring family activities in Burlington so I could easily open it up every weekend a find the best spot to enjoy our day as a family. Below is a list of my favourite spring family activities in Burlington, Ontario and the surrounding area. I hope you will try them out and have a wonderful time outside with your family this Spring.
Bronte Provincial Park: 1219 Burloak Dr, Oakville, ON L6M 4J7
Bronte Provincial Park has a wide variety of activities for your family to enjoy for a few hours or an entire day. First, there is a wonderful play barn with ladders, a small rock wall, jumping platforms, slides, and so much more. My kids love it here and will spend hours running around, playing hide a seek and meeting new friends. Bronte Provincial Park also has lots of animals for your kids to see and enjoy, including cows, sheep, bunnies, pigs and goats. You can also explore the nature center (close to the play barn) to learn about the wild animals that live at Bronte Provincial Park and enjoy some fun activities while you do. Bronte Provincial Park has many hiking trails, though my favourite to do with the kids is the Gnome Trail. Enjoy a nice walk in the woods while searching for tiny little Gnome homes hidden among the trees. If you have older kids, consider checking out Bronte Provincial Park’s disc golf course. My husband and I love to play and are starting to get our kids into it as well.
Mountsberg Conservation Area: 2259 Milburough Town Line, Campbellville, ON L0P 1B0
Mountsberg Conservation Area holds a special place in my heart as I used to bring my kids here weekly when I was on maternity leave and going there always reminds me of that special time. Some of the awesome things to do at Mountsberg include a natural playground, farm animals, and various hiking trails. The most unique part, however, is their Raptors Center, where you can see birds of prey up close that Mountsberg has rescued.
Cherry Hill Gate: Cherry Hill Gate, Burlington, ON L7T 1H1
If you are looking to connect with nature this Spring, Cherry Hill Gate is the place for you. From Cherry Hill Gate, you can explore many hiking trails through Hendrie Valley and the Royal Botanical Gardens, including boardwalks through the marsh. There is a lot of wildlife here; honestly, I can’t remember walking here and not seeing wildlife. Some wildlife we have seen at Cherry Hill Gate are birds, ducks, swans, chipmunks, squirrels, turtles, herons, snakes, frogs and even a raccoon. The wildlife here is fairly comfortable around people which can be really cool, but remember to give them their space and do not feed the wildlife.
